Businesses are willing to spend millions of dollars in 30-second clips of super bowl ads, but how about the local thrift store across the street? I bet the low cost promotional apparel items they gave out last summer really helped them a lot. I noticed they expanded their space and did some renovations on their interior. The apparel did the job, really.

Take a look at your local second-hand auto dealers. They also give away low cost promotional auto accessories, and you don’t see them closing down, right? That’s how effective these giveaways are. The cost doesn’t really determine how effective a material is. I guess it all boils down whether or not customers appreciate the gifts given to them.

Instead of spending millions in a 30-second commercial and relying on man’s fleeting memory, why don’t companies use low cost items instead? It won’t hurt their image really, so what’s stopping them? A couple of dollars can go a long way, if they just know how to use it. They should get some marketing advice for them places I just mentioned.

Advice to upcoming business folks: don’t waste your money on expensive ads. Trust the cheap gifts out there and make the most out of it. You won’t get your company work into the fortune 500 list overnight anyway.
